Stunning departure from the ordinary. This recent build in the luxurious Windgate Ranch Two neighborhood is a cut above the rest that will fulfill your homeowner dreams for a lifetime. French boutique meets rustic countryside getaway with more amenities and special features than you could choose on your own. Enter this home through French-style double doors into a soaring foyer with wood-like tile below and bead-board ceiling above that will lead your guests to sophisticated living areas. Just off the entryway an antique wood sliding door encloses a private office with wall-to-wall custom wood paneling. Across the hall lies the perfect laundry room fitted with custom cabinets, plenty of storage, solid countertops and its own sink. Off the garage, a large mud room was installed with an entire wall of cabinet-styled bench and lockers to keep the winter clutter under control. A breathtaking walk into the open living, kitchen and dining areas will leave you gaping from room to room. This living room, with custom wood paneled walls, chandelier, fireplace, peek-a-boo TV and oversized windows looking past the large covered balcony, flows seamlessly into the kitchen of all kitchens. Cook like a king on an imported Italian gas range and double oven. Overcrowding the fridge – or the need for more than one – will never again be an issue with a commercial grade refrigerator and freezer. Another reclaimed wood door leads to a walk-in pantry with built-in shelves and exposed drawers. The ultimate achievement award goes to this master suite. Tray ceilings and a chandelier tower over a serene space for two and connect to the master bathroom. Heated tile floors melt the days stress right out from under you. In this bathroom, every day is a day at the spa with a large freestanding tub next to a floor-to-ceiling marble tile and glass covered walk-in shower with a bench and dual shower heads. Finally, an oversized walk-in closet connects to the laundry room for ultimate efficiency. The upper level contains three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a bonus loft area, crafted for additional guest privacy or an ad hoc rec room. Permanent or temporary guests will fall in love with the ornate patterned flooring tile in the full bathroom connected to one bedroom. Just the same, the jack-and-jill bathroom with separate sinks connecting the other two bedrooms give company both privacy and convenience. The finished lower level rounds off this masterpiece of a home with an additional fireplace, large wet bar, custom wine room, large family area and fifth bedroom with a ¾ bath with a custom furniture piece vanity. The lower level walks out to a patio with a gas fire pit, perfect for crisp fall nights with close friends. Choose a home where every day is a getaway. Annexed by the city of Omaha in 2005, Elkhorn has not lost its small town atmosphere while adding numerous new subdivisions and businesses to its perimeter. The original city was located on the eastern bluff overlooking the Elkhorn River, primarily on the south side of what is now Maple Street. Its downtown reflects the charm of its earlier days with several buildings from the late 19th and early 20th century still in use.
The community was first populated in the mid 1800’s as a result of the fertile land and water availability in the area. Transportation on the Elkhorn River to the Platte and then to the Missouri was also a strong consideration in its selection. The area was platted in 1867 and incorporated in 1886. When the Union Pacific Railroad line moved westward through Elkhorn, the town became a water station and the home of many UP employees. Business, agriculture, and commerce flourished with the railroad’s presence.
As its population grew more emphasis was placed on entertainment, religion and education. These activities remain strong today with many churches, recreational facilities and schools serving the area. Today the Elkhorn Public School District educates over 5,000 students in six elementary, two middle, and two high schools. There are also several large parochial schools, as well.
The Elkhorn area continues to be an attractive residential option for people of all ages and requirements. Apartments, town homes, and single family dwellings are available in many price ranges. And the Dodge Expressway provides convenient passage for commuters. Other amenities—medical facilities, an abundance of services and retail outlets, Village Point Shopping Center, and grocery stores are conveniently located close-by, making Elkhorn a convenient and special place to live.
